Indiana Rural Energy Tours
2023 Tours
It’s that time of year again where we are gearing up for the Rural Energy Tours, brought to you by the Indiana Office of Energy Development. These tours aim to educate Hoosiers on what Indiana’s energy resources have to offer and how they work. Join us for one or both tours this June by sending your RSVP to IN-ACRE’s Program Manager, Michele Bivins.
A big thank you to our sponsors that have helped make these tours possible!
2022 Tours
IN-ACRE was happy to sponsor and attend the first of two Indiana Rural Energy Tours. Organized and hosted by the Indiana Office of Energy Development this first tour took place in White County. Other sponsors included the IN Corn and Soybean Alliance, the Association of Indiana Counties, Waste No Energy, IN State Department of Agriculture, Indiana Farm Bureau, and EDP Renewables.
The tour consisted of many examples and presentations of rural renewable energy opportunities. These included an onsite presentation and guided tour of Waste No Energy’s Anaerobic Digester, a self-guided tour of EDP’s wind site in White County, a renewable energy projects report by IUPUI’s Dr. Peter Schubert, and a presentation by EDP Renewables on wind and solar projects. The event was very well attended and provided excellent sources of information and an opportunity to better understand what renewable energy can do for rural communities.
